‘Chris was the mystery instrument for Toddler time at the Wales Millennium Centre in April 2018. He engaged our very young audience beautifully and was well prepared but also up for anything which is a rare combination.’ – Helen Woods
Chris is passionate about making music accessible to all. For this reason, he is committed to delivering innovative and inspiring workshops to a range of participants, seeing students improve their own guitar playing abilities, and providing enjoyable, relaxed concerts for those who find conventional concerts difficult.
‘Chris has been my son’s guitar tutor now for five years and has proven himself to be a patient, understanding and extremely competent tutor. In addition to his tutoring skills he is a very talented musician in his own rights having showcased his remarkable talents in guitar concerts that he has organised and produced himself, the latest being the extremely difficult Concierto de Aranjuez which Chris performed at Cardiff University with the University Chamber Orchestra.’ – Julie, Cardiff.
Chris teaches guitar privately in Birmingham, and all his students have achieved a merit or higher in their music grade exams. He is fully DBS checked and has been teaching since the age of 16.
As a workshop leader, Chris has experience working in SEND settings, delivering Javanese Gamelan workshops for Cheltenham Festivals, and working with early years, school’s workshops, and care homes.
In 2016 Chris founded the Cardiff Guitar Festival, of which he is now artistic director. Each year, he devises the week-long programme, delivers workshops, coaches the ensembles, and manages the event administration.
